Programs“Follow Me” Moran Norris Football Camp This summer youth football camp gives students throughout the city of Houston and surrounding areas a chance to work one-on-one with professional athletics who have volunteered their time to support this activity and Moran’s efforts. Campers, ages 7-17, will participate in fundamental drills, individual specialized position drills, a kicking session and team play. Selected high school campers who meet specified criteria and successfully adhere to guidelines will be awarded a scholarship to attend a higher educational institution. Scholarship amounts will be determined annually by board members. The Annual “Follow Me” Moran Norris Football Camp is scheduled for the 4th week in June. Download the registration form Register online Shopping for Good Character This end of school year activity offers students from participating Houston public schools the opportunity to go on a shopping spree as an incentive for their substantial improvement and achievement in demonstrating good character. Students are observed in areas such as attendance, conduct, work ethic, and extracurricular and community participation. Shopping sprees will be conducted at the end of the Spring semester followed by award program where selected students in the program are awarded laptops. Follow Your Dream Scholarship After researching the need for financial assistance within Houston-area schools, the Moran Norris Foundation identified a population of students that after high school would not continue their education because of a lack of financial resources. Students within this population, were dedicated athletes, who may not have met academic or athletic criteria to receive a scholarship to assist them in attending college. True to school spirit and participation, these students tend to be overlooked In 2011, the Follow Your Dream Scholarship Fund was established to encourage student athletes within this gap to attend college by providing financial assistance for tuition, books, and other general educational expenses. Partial scholarships of $1,500 were awarded to four deserving high school students. Pay Now Play Later In a private forum, Moran Norris Foundation speaks with Houston-area high school students throughout the year. Moran Norris along with other successful professionals discusses setting expectations, graduating from high school, attending college, and pursuing careers. Athletes for Art Supporting the Dowling Middle School After-School Fine Arts Program by providing financial support to encourage youth participation by engaging local artists to supervise collaborative student projects (i.e. murals) and increase student achievement at this Magnet Fine Arts School. |
